If anyone is actually reading this, then welcome. If no one is reading this (more likely), then I am talking to myself.
This is yet another poker blog. Why do we need another poker blog?…….. well we don’t. I just wanted to start one because I love the game and this is a useful avenue to express my thoughts on the explosion that is poker, and especially internet poker.
I will pronounce now that this blog will be anonymous. I will reveal that I am a 38 year old male, and I play solely on PokerStars at the moment. Beyond this I do not want to reveal anything else about me. This is mainly because I will be talking a lot how I play, including the posting of hands, and as I am quite in experienced, I do not see the need to give any information to my opponents. Of course this makes the arrogant assumption that people will be reading this , which they almost certainly won’t, but …. you never know!
The aims of this blog are:
1. To keep track of my progress. This is actually the main aim. I am a microlimits player, I am bad, but I love playing and I have set very conservative goals that I think are within reach. There will be a post soon on what I play, what my results are to date, and how what my goals are.
2. Following the progress of online poker. The whole phenomenon of internet poker fascinates me. We are in the middle of a technological revolution. The development of this entity known as the internet has changed the world as we know it. It is arguably the most important invention since….since…..I don’t know…since the last huge invention . ….? the telephone, ? the automobile, ?penicillin. Online poker exists because of the internet (just to state the bleeding obvious). Millions of people around the world play online poker and there are huge amounts of money being won and lost. As I write this, there are 106 players (out of 2998 entrants!), left in the 2007 Main Event of the PokerStars World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) where the winner wins $1,378, 330 !!!! Oh my God. That is unbelievable. I am watching Vanessa Rousso, by the way, who is currently coming 24th.
I am interested in watching the progress of online poker over the years. Will it continue to expand? What will happen re events relating to the legality of online poker in the states? What will the situationne in 5 years, 10 years.
3. Discussing and reporting on the issues relating to the phenomena of people playing poker (especially online poker) for a living. I have a bit of trouble with the knowledge that I work in a very hard, but overall very satisfying, job whilst there are many people who seem to have bypassed the need to get a ‘real’ job and make a living out of playing poker. I am not being judgmental, or at least I don’t mean to be, I am more interested in discussing the issues surrounding this, especially the negatives. How many players play online poker for a living? We hear a lot about the success stories (there can’t be any more better ones than the annette_15 story!!! ….will report on that soon), but what about the disaster stories? How many people are ruined by the addiction of online poker (there must be some)? What steps do online sites take to protect players?
Have a nice day !

I just recently came across your blog and I think it’s really interesting. I’ve been trying to find your contact information, but I see you’ve chosen to not publish any openly on the blog.
I really want to get in touch with you. I’d appreciate it if you were to send me your contact information, or just drop a note to my e-mail address!
