I guess he was going all the way after flopping the FH, but still it is tough to lose with quads!!

Chalk it up to bad luck or just that you were meant to lose this hand.
I think you could possibly fold a lower full house if you suspect the other person has a higher one but to fold quads is almost unprecedented.
